Design, Optimization, and Testing of High-Frequency and High-Power Density 5 KW and 45 KW Voltage Source Inverters for Energy Storage and Renewable Energy Uses ◦ Deployed a novel approach to optimize the design of filter stage of the inverters in terms of Cost, Efficiency, and Volume while considering UL 1741, IEEE 1547, and IEEE 1547.1 standards leading to up to 57.2% in Cost, 18.3% in Loss, and 31.0% in volume. ◦ Verified the validity of the design through simulation and Finite Element Analysis using Simulink and Ansys. ◦ Developed the control firmware and performed experiments to ensure the proper functionality of the prototypes in terms of efficiency, standard compliance, and temperature rise as a team member.Diesel Generator Hybridization Feasibility Study for Remote Area Applications ◦ Optimized the sizing of the battery, diesel generator, and charger battery to minimize initial investment and annual operation costs while considering customer’s energy consumption patterns ◦ Packagedthisoptimization tool in a user-friendly software to help designers optimize Hybrid Diesel Generator Systems with several default and custom commercially available batteries, diesel generators, and chargers. ◦ Deployed this optimization approach to enhance the financial feasibility of the Hybrid Diesel Generator System developed in University of Alberta Power Electronics Lab.
