My PhD projects are focused on understanding the Ubiquitin Proteasome System (UPS)- protein degradation machinery of cells. Dysfunctional UPS is associated with neurodegenerative disorders as well as certain types of cancers. Due to its important role in protein homeostasis, I developed a passion towards understanding how the proteasomes are regulated. This role provided me an opportunity to show case my leadership qualities early in my career. I taught courses like Biochemistry, Genetics and Microbiology to undergraduate students. As the Program coordinator, I was responsible for the overall course-planning, management and success of the Biotechnology program. My responsibilities also included organizing student industrial visits and quiz competitions and providing counseling to the prospective students.
