About Mike Kearney

Boston-based, Licensed School Adjustment Counselor/Social Worker. I’ve dedicated the last 10 years to working with and for underserved and vulnerable students with significant social, emotional, and behavioral needs, many of whom carry histories of complex trauma. I believe that building authentic relationships with students is paramount to effective counseling. My work utilizes a holistic, strength-based approach to promote a positive self-concept. I see immense value in expressive interventions such as music, photography and art to help create new outlets for self-affirmation. I have been able to hone my clinical skills to work in true partnership with my students, their families, community resources and school staff that allows room for reciprocal learning and growth. Through ongoing partnership, I help students expand their sense of self, create goals, envision possibilities for their future, and realize their best selves. Connecting, understanding, helping others: an honor, a calling. #Ubuntu #Gratitude
