Driven by fascination of biological complexity, I'm aiming for expanding our understanding of human biology using data science. My goal is to help the scientific community on a fundamental level so we gain more insights from the research studies that are being done, eventually leading to improved and more accurate treatment of patients.

Phd FellowNovo Nordisk Foundation Center For Basic Metabolic Research Oct 2023 - PresentCopenhagen, Capital Region, DenmarkPhD candidate at Rasmussen lab. I perform multi-modal data analyses using deep learning models, with an emphasis on the interpretability of the results for biological understanding and clinical translation. -
Phd FellowNovo Nordisk Foundation Center For Protein Research, University Of Copenhagen Feb 2023 - Oct 2023København, Capital Region, DenmarkPhD candidate at Jensenlab. I use combine existing tools and datasets to gain more insights in the interplay between proteins, or more specifically; identifying the specific protein-protein signalling interactions. The result is a large network that can be used to interpret the omics results of wet lab research. The funding for the Novo Nordisk Center of Protein Research is discontinued and prof. Lars Juhl Jensen will move to industry. I continue my PhD with a new project at the lab of prof. Simon Rasmussen. -

Research InternUmc Utrecht Dec 2020 - Jul 2021Utrecht, Utrecht, NetherlandsDuring this 4-month internship, I've investigated the complex genetic background of a group of patients with multicystic kidney dysplasia. Currently, for only 10-20% of the patients a mutation in a set of known genes can be found through standard genetics screening methods. The genetic background of the remaining 80-90% of the patients is unknown, while the familial aspect of this disease is evident. The outcome of this project aids bridging the knowledge gap and improve diagnostics and prognosis of patients and their relatives. • described the first male patient with congenital renal and genital abnormalities caused by a de novo mutation in the GREB1L gene• written a research strategy to further prioritize genes for potential causal genetic variants• strong communication with medical doctors, bioinformaticians, and geneticists• worked with the genetic analysis software Alissa Interpret• standard bioinformatic command-line tools for WGS analysis (variant calling, CNV calling, etc)Department of Genetics, Center for Molecular Medicine, Division Laboratories, Pharmacy and Biomedical Genetics, University Medical Center Utrecht; supervision by dr. Student AthleteA.U.S.R. Orca 2015 - 2017Utrecht, NetherlandsAfter my first rowing year at U.S.R. Triton, I proceeded with a second racing year at A.U.S.R. Orca. I've rowed single sculls and double sculls in the lightweight category, and won multiple races in the 4- and 8+ in the weightless category. My perseverance and self-discipline are evident from the 8 trainings per week as a single sculler, without a crew or fixed coaching team. I independently asked for coaching and training schedules from various rowers and coachers, and planned my own diets in order to start in the lightweight category. In my third rowing year, I started double sculls in a recreational field, while still training 5 times a week. We won various races and the overall competition (Ask & Embla bokaal). -
