Captain - Conservation Vessel 1Town Of Hempstead Government Dec 2016 - Present-Operate and supervise the maintenance of all Town of Hempstead vessels, as well as operating department vessels of all capacities, including, but not limited to the movement of scows, cranes, barges, dredges and other vessels in compliance with USCG Regulations 33CFR. -Instruct, and as necessary, supervise crew on loading and unloading equipment, buoys, and other related hardware-Patrol local waterways and reports deviations in the Town's Buoy System to the Navigation Aids Maintenance Supervisor, and assists in the placement, maintenance, repair, and removal of navigation aids, structures, signs, and markers in waterways and marshlands.-Determines locations and placement of navigation aids, and advises supervisor of changes.-Complete authority and responsibility for any and all passengers , and crew on vessel.-Checks condition of vessel’s fire-fighting, life-saving, and first-aid equipment and takes promptcorrective action when deficiencies are noted.- Safely push and tow all Town barges in tight quarters and waterways. -
Boat CrewTown Of Hempstead Government Aug 2010 - Dec 2016-Perform general labor assignments ashore, as well as, aboard Department vessels.-Launch and retrieve buoys. Assist in the maintenance of navigational aids, such as: buoys, channel markers, and signs.-Operates marine equipment as necessary to include: radios, jet pumps, fuel pumps, fenders, anchors and tie‐up lines.-Perform required vessel maintenance, i.e., chipping, wire brushing, painting of the hull and bottom, oiling, and greasing of deck machinery.-Assists in lifting and dropping spuds, when assigned to barge crane and scow.-Keep the deck and engine room clean and orderly - When assigned to captain ; Complete authority and responsibility for any and all passengers , and crew on vessel.
