Integrated as part of the Microsoft Defender for Cloud product, my team incubated and built the DevOps security offerings as part of the Microsoft Threat Protection platform helping 3rd party customers to protect their cloud services from code to production.

Working in Azure on the Cloud Engineering Services team with the distinct goal of making our engineers and developers more productive and to reduce the overhead and cost of shipping code to Azure. Our team called 'OneBranch' has the distinct honor of delivering the CI/CD solution for Azure and the larger division and we manage pull requests, builds, tests and releases for tens of thousands of developers in the organization. We empower our developers to do more, faster - investing in moving our engineering services to be Cloud First and to help Azure to keep up with the pace of delivery while ensuring security and compliance throughout. - Streamlined Azure CI/CD engineering pipeline - Integrated Build, Validation and Testing for thousands of Azure services into a common, shared and fully supported process. - Enormous scale, thousands of released per week, tens of thousands of pull requests every week and several hundred thousands of builds created every month under a very high SLA. - Tens of thousands of engineering using this engineering people every day - Delivered on unique requirements for elastic builds, bud also drive sufficient scale for BCDR scenarios- Driven improvements to developer NSAT with new tools and services to make developers more productive using the Cloud

Being part of the Azure journey from the start and building on a career in services, the journey of scaling our developer services to the growth and pace of the Cloud is so exciting. Running build and release services for about a dozen services with a team of about 10 the challenge was about scaling a team to be highly productive and meet the demands of our business. By driving efficiencies into our own services, reducing overhead and collapsing many services into one we were able to focus the investments into scaling out and driving high and meaninful SLA's for Azure. As our business grew, our team also grew from 10 to about 25 and supporting almost 5,000 developers with getting their commits shipped to production. Its easy to be secure or productive, but moving fast AND secure is our goal and at driving not only efficiencies but also investing deeply into security and compliance fundamentals was a core part of building a successful team supporting Azure. • Built and managed the Code, Build, Test and Release team for Azure• Invested heavily into fundamentals, leveraging Cloud architecture and reducing overhead, collapsed 4 services into 1. • Focused on security and compliance, driving efficiencies around anti-virus, codesigning and many fundamentals necessary to drive customer trust and keep the Azure platform safe.

• Ran developers tools, build and test processes and services for Azure Active Directory • Built services and efficiencies into the developer environment enabling use of new developer tools• Migrated many on premise deployed services into hosted environments and early version of Azure IAAS.

Aside from my passion and career in Software, I am also a avid photographer and have been able to grow my love of photography through MKippen Photography over the years. Starting as a Automotive photographer working with several magazines, I started to get into photographing portraits for friends which grew into a busy schedule shooting Weddings with my wife Sarah. Over the years, my love for photography continues, but since starting a family in 2013, the focus has been on having fun and finding the love I had for photograph when I first got started. At WAMU I was a developer in the eServices team and contributed to the backend services that ran the WAMU website. Focusing mostly on the data layers, my responsibility was to enable new data structures for the front end teams and to work with the team on SQL schema upgrades and validations. As the website for WAMU evolved, new fields and validation would be put in place, deployed to the backend, tested and then the frontend team would evolved to leverage these new changes.- Managed and developed on SQL server backend with validation and testing of new changes- Supported and developed on the data access and validation layers in C# and leveraged SQL stored procedures in data transformation. - Contributed best practices through the use of test clusters and staged deployment practices.- Won the WAMU 'Always-On' award in 2003 for being proactive in development and encouraging new patterns and changes to maintain the services.

Being a local student, i was one of the first full time interns to work at Microsoft throughout the scool year part time. Working at Microsoft in the afternoons I had the opportunity to drive real world work experience to contribute towards my credits and to contribute in real ways towards Microsoft as part of the Benefits IT team. Exchange - Contributed in testing automation, developed deployment scripts and collection of test results- Automated parsing of test results to produce a dashboard displaying health of testing over time- Hosted a test results page on a local IIS server written in ASP.NET Benefits ITBuilt and configured a ASP.NET website with integrated authentication were a receptionist can input the alias of a Microsoft employee, do some basic validation such as the card # and whether the employee had already received a card and then insert and validate data into the SQL backend.- Contributed as a full stack developer for 1 year- Built a website to assign the Microsoft discount cards (PRIME) to be used by the receptionists. - Built a SQL backend with stored procedures for data entry and validation. - Integrated SQL reporting services to monitor rollout on new fiscal.
