Being a CEO of a bootstrapped platform business may have never been in my plans or wildest dreams, but I always operated in the realms of the unknown, taking intentional steps towards my curiosities and inspirations. I immigrated with my family to Hong Kong from South Korea at the age of eleven.  I grew up observing my parents trying to build a life in an alien world without much help or examples. They in turn did not impose any particular path for me, which I believe played a big role in building my core philosophy of “try new things and give it my best shot”. After graduating from the University of Cambridge with a degree in Politics, my career was indeed marked by trying many new and different things.  I spent 10+ years in customer facing roles in service-led industries such as telco (British Telecom) and recruitment (Hays) as well as product-led industries like social networking platform (LinkedIn).  I experienced first-hand the wide range of challenges that organizations face to adapt and keep running, and the remarkable impact that excellent service coupled with innovative product could have on driving outcomes. Today, my responsibility at Human Managed is to align its purpose to strategy -- and strategy to operations. I enjoy combining my learnings, love for design-thinking, and service-first mindset to various domains, be it branding, service design, and business development.
