I help build infrastructure for the voluntary carbon market. We @Patch unify & scale climate action to return the planet to balance.

I am taking a mini sabbatical and am exploring where I could do impactful work next.

Employee #8. Helped grow org to 450+ employees (100+ engineers) in 7 years. As EM: 250+ interviews, 12 hires, 2 terminations, 2 departures, one priceless experience.As a Sr. Software Engineering Manager I created and led the newly formed API team (3 ICs & 1 PM) as well as the Platform team (5 ICs). The platform team was responsible for keeping our systems up, observed, tuned and able to scale by 10x. During this time I...- Hired 5 ICs in 9 months.- Collaborated closely with the API PM on the creation of a hyper agile process (Kanban, pull-based, rolling 6 week plan), prototyping of experimental new concepts (2 per quarter) and future product ideation. - Improved velocity & decreased lead time (elapsed time: ideation => shipped prod code) from ~17 => 9 days.- Mitigated technical and organization risks (bus factor increase 1 => 3) and scaled platform 10x.

Led the Core Platform team, responsible for user authentication & authorization, the sign-up flow, the analytics pipeline, various integrations (Salesforce, Zoho… ), the internal credit, admin, billing & audit systems, search etc.- Assisted in hiring VP of engineering & VP of product and 6 other eng leaders.- Recruited and retained 8 high-performing ICs in my teams.- Reviewed 14+ design docs (authored 4), performed countless code reviews (mostly Ruby), structured on-call rotations, led & scoped projects and kept them on track.- Helped ICs grow through continuous feedback in 1:1s & perf reviews.- Defined org-wide recruiting guidelines and led the eng-wide initiative to double the deploy frequency.- Estimated project timelines and aligned UX, PM and ENG.

- Built 2 new services & the entire first version of the API resulting in 5+M ARR growth.- Wrote/tuned/maintained the Ruby/Rails backend, added auto scaling & caching. Figures: 1900+ QPM with latency of 40ms for 50th percentile & < 200ms for 95th percentile.- Improved team processes and introduced new best practices around testing, deploys, design docs, requirements gathering, on-call rotation, observability etc.

Envisioned, conceptualized and developed SolarX as a company and web based product using Ruby, Rails (4.2), PostgreSQL running on the AWS and Heroku. Graduated from Y Combinator’s Fellowship 2015 batch

Wrote/tuned/maintained a CMS for social media marketing managers to embed content directly into Facebook with a click of a button. System runs on 32+ machines (NginX, Ruby/Rails 3.2), master/slave replicated DB system (MySQL 5.1) on AWS and handles 1500+ QPS at < 80ms latency in 95 percentile. (Figures: 300 team members in the division, 60 in engineering, 8 engineers in my team).

Developed, tested Gumroad's backend using Ruby 1.9.3, Rails, RSpec, NginX, Linux Ubuntu 11.04, MySQL running on the AWS Cloud. (Figures: 3 engineers, 500k+ monthly page views)

Designed and developed Catalog Spree's backend using Python, Django, PostgreSQL on RackSpace Cloud. (Figures: 8 team members, 4 engineers, 100k+ monthly page views)

Co-founded and developed SecondLeap using Python, Django, PostgreSQL on RackSpace Cloud. Graduated from AngelPad W2011 batch.

Managed 7-person dev team (on/offshore) for lead gen websites using HTML, CSS, JSP, Java, Oracle, Struts, PHP. Met aggressive deadlines and frequent iterative changes for paid and organic search traffic.

Built a high-performance reporting engine using J2EE technology to validate, transform, and route 35,000 daily XML files from mainframes to printers, replacing 5 IBM programs and reducing maintenance costs. (Figures: 33 members, 18 engineers, $26M budget, 2.5 years, 400 report types, 35K daily volume, 350K max.).Also developed a Java-based web solution to manage credit risk in retail banking (Figures: 3-tier architecture with Java, HTML, Javascript, PL/SQL on Oracle DB. 22 team members (8 engineers), and 20k+ lines of code)

Maintained and enhanced the stock market trading systems.(Role: individual contributor, Team size: 4 engineers).
