As of 01-01-2023 I'm co-owner of AT Computing BV en AT Experts BV. This does not change what I do on a daily basis, but it does mean I will be involved with this fantastic company for an unlimited amount of time!

As a consultant, my job is to recommend (the management of) companies and municipalities about the opportunities, possibilities and pitfalls of DevOps and Cloud. Being an enthusiastic technologist, I also explain the role Open Source Software can play within these subjects.My goal is to translate the complex technology that is part of DevOps and Cloud into clear and understandable words and give real world examples of what the technology means and how it can actually help to reach business targets. I do everything every director does, but just a little differently. I firmly believe in the power of trust, the growth mindset, continuous experimentation and intrinsic motivation.Based on this conviction and with a good dose of energy, I try to steer all the gurus that make up my team in the same direction and make AT Computing a great place to work.

As CTO my main goal is to define and enroll the strategy for AT Computing regarding Open Source technologies. This goes for both the development of the skills of our consultants as for the development of our trainers and training courses.

Responsible for the SLA and operational performance of the IBM Lotus Notes services, provided by the external supplier.

Responsible for the SLA and operational performance of the network (LAN, WAN, WLAN and DC LAN) and IT housing services, provided by internal and external suppliers.

As Achmea's projectmanager, I'm responsible for upgrading the WAN (Wide Area Network) connections of all corporate locations in the Netherlands. Together with the supplier, the main goal is to perform the upgrade with minimal impact on the business processes.

Responsible for the SLA and operational performance of the Citrix Server Based Computing services, provided by the external supplier.During my time as the supplier manager for Achmea's Citrix-platform, I have been able to reduce the size of the environment by almost 50%. By actively pushing life cylce managent and pro-active capacity analyses of the platform, the old Win 2k3 farm and many even older legacy systems where shut down completely. The new Win 2k8 farm was optimized and sized to fit the business needs, without any operational impact. For Achmea, the results where a less complex Citrix platform and a considerably and structural costs reduction.

Together with my colleagues of Storage Management, I was working on the optimal performance of the storage (NAS, SAN), backup and restore services from the external supplier.By analyzing system usage reports and billing details, I found a group of database servers with exceptional growth of backup volumes. In collaboration with the DBA's, we discovered a mismatch in retention settings, which caused the backups to rapidly increase over time. Correcting these setting substantially reduced the out of pockets costs for database backups.During a datacenter migration program, the Storage Management team was in the lead of the NAS migration. As active member of the team, I managed to move over 200TB of NAS storage with minimal impact on business processes.
