Studio Jayne is a design and innovation studio that works on projects that deal with gender-based violence, reproductive rights, sex trafficking, and advancing rights for women and girls. We are currently scaling Likely Story (formerly called That’s Sus!) — a digital game, in collaboration with Victim Services Durham Region and Ontario Network of Victim Service Providers in Canada.Here is how Studio Jayne and Likely Story began: At Design for Social Innovation MFA program at School of Visual Arts, a team of three designers, Meghan Lazier, Robin Newman, and I, gathered to build a product, a card game called Say No More, as design project. The game was designed to help young girls to learn about possible risky scenarios and awkward situations they might face in romantic relationships and discuss candidly with friends. Soon after, Say No More game received $20,000 grant from Sappi Ideas That Matter in 2014. This grant enabled the team to produce 500 more copies of the game and distribute to schools throughout three boroughs of New York City in 2015 with the help of ECPAT USA. In 2020, Say No More pivoted to a digital game, Likely Story, and has received over $750,000 CAD in funding from the following organizations: • Sappi Ideas That Matter• Telus • Durham COVID Fund• Public Safety Canada• Women and Gender Equality Canada
