I lead the production of the accompanying… Show more The Multimedia Anthropology Lab is a research network that examines the potential of multimedia tools (film, virtual reality, machine learning, data sonification/ visualisation...) in anthropological research. In this role, I worked towards the planning and execution of a four-day academic conference 'Multimedia Encounters: Experimental Approaches to Ethnographic Research', which was attended by over 1500 people from 78 different countries. I lead the production of the accompanying virtual reality exhibition, where I was able to develop skills ranging from three-dimensional modelling and design to leadership and communication. I also contributed to reworking the website in order to prepare for the surge in traffic and organised the virtual reality & machine learning research hubs. My work for the lab culminated in a paper 'Recursive Alterity: Experiments in Virtual Reality and Machine Learning', which I presented at the conference on the 'Algorithmic Thinking' panel alongside other researchers from MIT, Lancaster University and Akademie Schloss Solitude.
