I founded SDL in 1992 after seeing a gap in the market to help companies internationalise and expand their businesses globally. The convergence of social, mobile and Web has created a new and complex consumer-driven economy and I saw an opportunity for companies to differentiate themselves by delivering relevant customer experiences. This set my course for the next 20 years – acquiring technologies and investing in significant R&D to create the global business that SDL is today; we help companies to engage more effectively with their customers across the entire customer journey. Prior to SDL I started my career as a software design engineer at Satchwell Control Systems and Lotus Development Corporation, having studied electrical engineering and computer architectures at Hatfield University. I then became international development director at Ashton-Tate.
