I am a Stability & Controls Engineer at Boeing in Huntington Beach, CA. I completed my Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering at University of California, Riverside (UCR), Class of 2020. I have recently graduated with my Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering at USC, Class of 2023.I initially chose mechanical engineering because my father is also very passionate about cars and engineering and would have pursued the career, but was discouraged due to financial struggles as a refugee immigrant from Vietnam. Motivated to succeed for both myself and my parents, I took advantage of the opportunities that my parents did not have, but have worked so hard for me to have. I am extremely grateful for the abundance of opportunities for everyone in America, and I am extremely blessed to live the life that I have today.

Aerodynamics/Stability & Control EngineerBoeing Aug 2020 - PresentArlington, Va, UsSustainable Flight Demonstrator (X-66 SFD): Worked wind tunnel test at North American Aviation Research Tunnel (NAART) at Huntington Beach, CA. Trained other engineers to plot and process data with UWAL Plot. Developed MatLab tools from scratch to expedite the aero data processing for my team, including 2D and 3D plotting, re-referencing (converts wind tunnel or CFD data from one aircraft to another when provided with both airplanes’ reference quantities), as well as adding features to/automating many already existing tools. Documented and managed the team’s tools database, and trained new hires on using the tools. Processed aero data from various CFD, flight tests, and wind tunnel tests for building aero model simulations.Blended Wing Body (BWB) Transport Configuration Aero Simulation: Ran vortex lattice code, used Aerostructures data manipulation tools, obtained data for aero model interpolation programming, queried data, and built Aero Model and Hinge Moment Models with my Stability & Controls team. Guidance, Navigation, & Control (GNC) Simulation Lab: Assembled flight simulator, significantly reorganized entire lab, and supported piloted sim evaluations. -
Honors Ambassador For University HonorsUniversity Of California, Riverside Aug 2017 - Jun 2020Riverside, Ca, UsAs a University Honors Ambassador, my goal is to enhance student development through peer mentoring, directing and coordinating workshops, and extracurricular activities for Honors students.I worked with their Diversity and Global Citizenship Team for the 2017-2018 school year to coordinate events and activities which provide social and cultural experiences for University Honors students, and to celebrate diversity and international cultures. I currently work with their Outreach and Alumni Relations team to promote the University Honors Program to increase their presence on campus, to recruit prospective students, and to network with Honors Alumni to maintain alumni connections for the program. -
Undergraduate Research FellowCaltech Jun 2019 - Aug 2019Pasadena, Ca, UsI was in the WAVE Fellows Program at Caltech, a Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship Program (SURF). I was funded by Southern California Edison. I worked with Professor of Mechanical Engineering, Dr. Guillaume Blanquart, who researches computational models and simulations of combustion, turbulent flows, and soot formation. My specific project for the summer was "Improving the predictions of the formation of soot precursors in the combustion of ethylene." I worked to optimize the computational chemical model of ethylene combustion on FlameMaster, a chemical kinetics code simulating various flames. -
Undergraduate Research AssistantCollege Of Engineering - Center For Environmental Research And Technology Jun 2017 - Jun 2019Riverside, California, UsI was an undergraduate student research assistant at Bourns College of Engineering, Center of Environmental Research and Technology (CECERT) in Emissions and Fuel Research (EFR) group under supervision by Dr. Thomas Durbin, Dr. Kent Johnson, and Dr. David Cocker. I assisted faculty and graduate students in their research in the Ford Motor Company Vehicle Emissions Research Laboratory, Portable Emissions Measurement Systems Lab, and the AVL Light Duty Lab by operating emissions measurement machines while conducting tests on a dynamometer, collecting emissions samples, managing lab equipment/inventory, organizing files, and analyzing samples of tailpipe emissions collected on PTFE Teflon filters using LabView and a Mettler Toledo precision balance or a Carbon Aerosol Particulate Analysis Instrument to measure Organic Carbon - Elemental Carbon (OC-EC) particulate emissions samples on quartz filters.
