Based on his current work and background, Mark’s research also examines advancements in enterprise and cloud network technologies; adoption of cloud services and software-defined systems; network management best practices; and the evolution of IT staff roles and skills in this demanding hyper-connected digital era.

Focal points included technology advancements, the industry need for talent, traits of the modern learner, training and certification best practices and the impact of digital transformation on the workforce. My work aligned Cisco training programs and certifications to industry, organizational and individual learner demands. In addition, I supported select strategic and tactical projects targeting next-generation Cisco products and services. In this role, I was responsible for accurate and comprehensive forward-looking industry guidance and played a pivotal role in determining the future success of Cisco training and certification programs, Cisco-certified professionals, and the organizations that depend on their valuable knowledge and skills.

As a technology research, analysis, and consulting firm, The First Tracks spotlighted ground-breaking, software-defined networking (SDN) technologies and solutions; supplier and operator best practices; real-world deployments of SDN-driven systems and services; and the impact of networking on both business and IT across a wide variety of industries.

Created market and business development strategies for Cisco's networking and security solutions, including Cisco routers, switches, IOS software, security products, and network management systems. Drove the adoption and advancement of Cisco Network Systems technologies and products; provided guidance to Cisco customers and partners; and ensured that Cisco Network Systems strategies, technologies, and products mapped to both existing and developing industry requirements. Served on Cisco’s internal Green Team, a group devoted to building an environmentally sustainable world.
