Safety Management Systems, LLC. provides full service safety professionals to the oil and gas industry with services that include field safety, industrial hygiene, project management and process development. SMS is a client based organization with internal resources that help our safety professionals succeed at minimizing accidents in the work place.

Behavior based observations on drilling rigs, recognizing potential hazards and working with employees to mitigate hazards, ensuring that the contract company's policies and procedures are being followed, and coaching and training employees with the knowledge of safe work practices that I have obtained while working on drilling rigs.

Starting out on a drilling rig as a floor hand, I utilized my time to learn every position on the rig. This made me interested in the field of safety in the workplace. As a Safety Captain I was responsible for informing visitors of all the hazards associated with the drill site. Having to audit the equipment on a daily and weekly basis, directing the flow of trucks on location, conducting all tailgate safety meetings with the crews, and maintaining the integrity of the behavior based process by observing the employees on the work site and discussing all safe and at risk behaviors was part of my job.
