Profile bio

About Marc T. Levitt, Pmp

I joined Washington River Protection Solutions (WRPS) in June 2020 after 20+ years in the geophysical consulting industry. I have extensive experience in the application and management of geophysics towards environmental remediation, geotechnical studies, and mineral exploration. My initial work at WRPS focused on leak detection for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Hanford Nuclear Reservation’s waste storage tanks and environmental characterization to support environmental planning. I moved to the Closure and Interim Measures Group (also within WRPS) in January 2022 as a Project Manager. I will lead the technical and regulatory closure of waste management area (WMA) 241-C Tank Farm and will interface with US Department of Energy (DOE) and Washington State Department of Ecology. I will also support tank and vault waste retrieval strategy and design for catch tanks and vaults within C-tank farm. In addition, I will support various interim measure projects such as environmental barrier design, barrier monitoring, Tri-party Agreement reporting. Prior to WRPS, I lead several large multi-method geophysical projects and the development of a first of a kind nuclear waste tank monitoring technology (LDM) based on the electrical resistivity geophysical method, that has been operational at the Hanford Nuclear Reservation since 2004. While at HGI, I was also lead for the Surface Geophysical Exploration (SGE) project, which focused on characterization of waste disposal sites associated with nuclear storage Tank Farms.I joined hydroGEOPHYSICS, Inc. (HGI) in 1997 after completing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geological Engineering from the University of Arizona. The company started in a single room home office with four personnel including myself. As a young owner of a startup company I was quickly thrown into varied disciplines that included extensive field work, generating proposals, marketing, data processing, report preparation, etc. I have always thrived with cutting edge technology and this career has allowed me to work with hardware and software systems. Part of my job includes research and development which includes development of automated database processing systems, automated data acquisition hardware design and have assisted with the development of technology resulting in patents. Specialties: Project ManagementPlume mapping and trackingGeophysics and subsurface imagingSurvey DesignSite assessmentMineral extraction enhancementHeap leach optimization

Listed skills include Geology, Geophysics, Geotechnical Engineering, Hydrogeology, and 42 others.
