Winchester, Hampshire

Formed and led the Distribution function of the UK Terrestrial TV Digital Switchover Project (DSO) which completed in Dec 2012. The Distribution function represents £200M of the overall DSO project value of £700M and provides MPLS, microwave and Satellite network connectivity between UK Broadcasters and the national network of terrestrial transmitters for real time play-out of all UK TV channels.As Workstream lead I owned overall responsibility for the delivery of all aspects of the Distribution function including the initial design, project roll-out, customer and supplier management, negotiation of contracts and changes, service acceptance and service handover. Despite numerous challenges and changes since 2006, The project completed on time, to budget and with a 100% delivery to commitment record over the 5 year roll-out period and subsequent 8 years of exemplary reliability.

Joined in June 1998 to head up the technical development of ntl Business Products.June 2000 created the 'Customer Engineering' function which provided the qualification and design capabilities for high value bespoke prospects. Successes included the ExCel center, Heathrow T5 and pioneering the deployment of MetroEthernet.Promoted to Technical Director in 2002.

Initially heading a technical and pre-sales function, remit broadened to include multiple technical & commercial initiatives including running a Technical School in Rome for 12 months.Promoted to the role of Technical Director in 1996.

Starting life as Network Support manager for Transpac, the ownership of the organisation and the responsibilities of the role changed encompassing everything from designing specialised monitoring equipment to providing Pre-Sales support on major bids.

Raf Sealand & Borehamwood

Qualified as a Radio/Radar Technician with the RAF at Sealand, I was recruited into GEC Military Computers to assist in building the test environment for various RAF equipment.
