About Michael Hoops

The late Howard Cosell once said, “the ultimate victory in competition is derived from the inner satisfaction of knowing that you have done your best and that you have gotten the most out of what you had to give.” As a long-term logistics leader with a strong competitive spirit, this comment resonates with me. My motivation to excel comes from within – and I wake up each morning with a burning desire to top my last performance. As a General Manager, I want my three locations to be the best in all categories (revenue, profit, safety, etc.) and I am constantly scanning both internal and external environments for new game-changing strategies and tactics I can adopt. A passion for competition can cut two ways: win at all costs or triumph with integrity. As a former military leader, where honor is a core value, I have chosen the latter path. Winning with integrity, I have learned, is the only way to achieve sustainable growth and results. When my competitors cut corners or act unethically to win contracts, it invariably catches up with them. I work in a highly customer-centric business and keeping your word is the key to building trust over the long-term. While a lack of integrity can disrupt customer relationships, so can shaky execution. This is the reason I take great care to understand my clients’ unique challenges/pain points, communicate frequently and deliver solutions that boost profitability. All decisions made across my locations start with the customer in mind. After all, for my business to be lucrative, my customers need to be profitable first.

Listed skills include Leadership, Operational Planning, Team Building, Rail Operations, and 2 others.
