In 2024, the Danish Minister for Business has established a new Recommendation Committee for Sustainable Urban Development, which will allocate 140 million DKK to create vibrant and sustainable city centers throughout Denmark until 2029. Fifteen state-owned natural areas around Denmark have been selected to become nature national parks. The nature national parks will enhance nature and biodiversity by establishing large, interconnected natural areas where nature can develop more freely than it does today.

A UNESCO biosphere reserve is internationally recognized and characterized by a rare wealth of landscapes and species, including many particularly vulnerable animals and plants. Only few places offer such diverse nature and well-preserved cultural heritage on a space of 450 squarekilometres as Møn, the surrounding islands and waters. From the chalk cliffs of Møns Klint, the peninsula Ulvshale and Nyord meadows to the Baltic Sea with bays, fjords to the starry sky, where on clear nights one can look through the milky way to the next galaxy. All this is part of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and Dark Sky Park.

andel was founded in 2016 as a strategic creative collective.The team behind has been responsible for development and implementation of the widely acclaimed Danish EXPO 2010 exhibition with the Little Mermaid.In 2017 andel together with Norm Architects were appointed as curators for the Copenhagen Guest City participation at Bejing Design Week 2018. In 2019 andel together with LeaderLab were appointed as curators for the host city programme in relation to C40 World Mayors Summit in Copenhagen. Since 2020 andel has been involved in the stategic and creative development of UNESCO World Capital of Architecture Copenhagen 2023 and the UIA World Congress Copenhagen 2023.Since 2018 andel has been a resident member of BLOXHUB in Copenhagen.

Beijing

The City of Copenhagen was guest city at Beijing Design Week 2018 and moved to Beijing’s vibrant 751 D-Park and 798 Art District for ten days in September 2018. The guest city participation was all about sharing a mindset that celebrates living as giving as an invitation to create cities where what we give to each other and to nature is much more than what we take.

Shanghai

I was one of the driving forces behind Denmark's EXPO 2010 participation called Welfairytales, where The Little Mermaid was the pavilion's pivotal point. I led a team in Copenhagen and Shanghai with an international and interdisciplinary background. Responsibilities included: Overall concept. Development and execution of exhibition, websites, publications, media content, shop/café including packing design etc. // Development and execution of brand strategy, brand identity and campaign. Development of market surveys, concept testing etc. // Development and execution of communication strategy. // Events in Denmark and China in relation to The Little Mermaids departure, arrival in Shanghai and return to Copenhagen. Artwork by Ai Weiwei. // Dialogue with stakeholders including government agencies and corporate partners.Results: During 2009-2010 and up to the opening of EXPO 2010 Shanghai, Denmark went from an anonymous position as the twentieth most anticipated EXPO pavilion to visit – to become the most popular foreign pavilion only succeeded by the Chinese pavilion. With The Little Mermaid in the center of our campaign we have had numerous front pages around the world in the period 2008-2010. Media coverage in China from 1 May to 31 October included 770 (unique) articles in newspapers and magazines, 282 online news items and 128 appearances on TV and radio. Polls in Oglivy’s Chinese forums stated the Danish project by far had the most attractive design. American-based EXHIBITOR magazine has awarded the Pavilion as ‘Best Exterior Design’ and an honorable mention in the ‘Best Pavilion’ category. Rewarded a Special Circle at Creative Circle Awards in 2011. According to official Tourist organization Visitdenmark the number of Chinese tourists visiting Copenhagen has increased by over 20% in both 2010 and 2011.
