About Maira Loureiro
The social, cultural, political and economic role that food plays was always very clear to me. I understand that there is no way to dissociate our food choices from animal welfare, sustainability, social justice, and our own well-being. I am willing to acknowledge and address topics that the injustices of the food industry and politics have caused around the world such as food poverty and food insecurity, the right to equal access to good nutrition and social inclusion via food, the whole of society in the food system transformation, environmental regeneration and critical thinking through food. Therefore, I am a passionate advocate for people´s food empowerment and food as a basic human right.I am a curious, resilient, committed, empathic, initiative-taking person; driven to get the job done and skilled in problem-solving with a pinch of creativity and critical thinking. Also experienced in research, writing, communication, time management, project management, creation & development, strategic planning and teamwork.I thrive in collaborative environments that focus on making the world a better place and are consistent with my ideologies. My main goal is to collaborate on meaningful, social impact-driven projects in which food has the lead role in contributing to society. I aim to develop and share my knowledge, being an active agent in building the world I believe the future needs.

The main activities include collecting and integrating data on the family food heritage of residents in Portugal into a digital platform, as well as adapting this content into a book.
