Murray State Cyber Education and Research Center focuses on education, outreach, development, and research with a focus on the areas of cybersecurity and networking.

Murray State University received funding in 1998 for a Program of Distinction in telecommunications, using resources made available through the Regional University Excellence Trust fund. Specifically, a Center for Telecommunications Systems Management (CTSM) was established through which the University is to address regional and national public and private sector needs. As technology has evolved, so has Murray State's approach to technology education. Effective June 2019, CTSM has changed its name to the Center for Computer and Information Technology and expanded its focus to support all aspects of computer and information technology education at Murray State University including computer science, computer information systems, cybersecurity, network and systems administration, wireless communications, and game development.

Technology Council of West Kentucky (TCWK) was created in late 2017 as a 501(c)(3) to support the west Kentucky region by building a unified catalyst for the growth and influence of the technology industry focusing on the four pillars of unifying, advocating, growing and connecting. • Unifying the Region: Bringing together the West Kentucky technology sector and related businesses in order to provide a collective regional voice and enhance regional economic development.• Advocating our Tech Sector: Attracting new technology companies to the region by promoting and demonstrating a spirit of entrepreneurship, innovation, a healthy business climate and technology awareness.• Growing the Workforce: Recruiting, employing and retaining top technology talent by providing of educational, social and networking opportunities.• Connecting Groups: Developing new, leveraging current and supporting future technology efforts and groups within West Kentucky to create an atmosphere of collaboration, innovation and teamwork.
