TLDR - With over 20 years in industry, I'm a researcher and UX guy (MSc) with product management experience. I'm a mentor, teacher, and speaker / moderator around these and other topics - I love what I do! I also like skis and bikes... a lot.Long story:I am a researcher who has been actively applying and teaching both user experience and market research since the early 2000s, using a wide range of quantitative and qualitative techniques in both user experience (UX) and product management roles. While my core training and roots are in HCI (Human-Computer Interaction), over a five year span I also added product management skills to my tool-chest: from market research, to manufacturing, licensing, pricing and direct customer support.I have worked in industries ranging from large interactive displays for teaching and education, to sport and fitness electronics for gyms and athletes, to cloud software for medical and commercial applications. Actively working on solving product and design challenges on everything from 84" interactive displays to low-power battery driven watch faces in wearables has given me a unique perspective on digital product design and use.I approach research / interaction design and product management challenges by drawing on my diverse experience, the combined approaches of three valued colleagues – I won’t name names here – and provide mentorship by constantly try to draw my other co-workers into user-centered philosophy and methods. Given my background, everything that I do starts and ends with people:- What urgent problem can we solve for someone? (Is it real?)- Are those problems pervasive with broad need across a population? (Is it sticky?)- Will people pay for it?
