I am a psychologist and lecturer at Radboud University Nijmegen, founding partner of the Behavior Change Group (BCG), the Nederlands Instituut voor Persoonlijke Ontwikkeling (NIPO), public speaker and author of "Hidden Persuasion". My main interests are how people gain knowledge of themselves, others & the world, how they develop personal & interpersonal skills and the interplay between motivation and behavior in personal development. I teach on mechanisms of development, learning, social interaction, and behavior change (ranging from fundamental evolutionary drives to motivation through meaning and values both personal and cultural) as well as on the theory and practice of behavioral change. The main purpose of my work is to understand and apply scientific insights to personal development and behavior change. By supporting evidence-based practice (EBP) I hope to maximize the effectiveness of psychological interventions through adherence to principles informed by empirical findings, clinical expertise, and client characteristics.
