As of February 2015 I am now enroled in a Modern Apprenticeship in Procurement with NHS Lothian. Working in conjunction with Glasgow City College, over the next two years I will gain practical experience and will be working towards my CIPS Certification.During this time I will be working with procurement systems, supply chain and in our commodities team. Once completed I will continue my career in NHS Lothian's Procurement function and will work towards the next level of my CIPS certification.

My primary role is ensure that products are on the shelves and immaculately displayed. However, customer service is of paramount importance at Tesco, and as such the most important job I have within Tesco is simply to be there to help our customers - perhaps taking them to a product they can't find, or explaining how they can get the best from a special offer. As a customer assistant I direct customers and assist in product location. I also support warehouse staff with deliveries, fill promotion ends and merchandising units as well as ensuring that the aisles are tidy and clear. That means a friendly, flexible approach - and a real belief in 'Every Little Helps.’Despite being one of the smallest stores in our group our approach to working has seen continuous sales growth coupled with group leading figures for wastage and shrink. This success has seen our department receive values awards and praise on all levels. On an individual basis this has proved to be the main factor in bringing me to the attention of my manager as a potential options candidate.

As part of the team at RNIB Scotland's Employment and Learning Centre I actively participated in helping adults with sight problems to enhance their independence and secure the best possible employment opportunities. The services The Centre offers aim to meet the needs of blind and partially sighted people throughout Scotland and the North of England. My responsibilities saw me travel to the three employment centres through out Scotland from the Edinburgh base as well as being given the opportunity to learning how RNIB operates as a whole. The purpose-built center meant I was able to provide services including:o Risk, personal development, and technology assessments.o Training and support for those wishing to look for work.o Retraining for those who have recently lost their sight and their employers.This internship also enabled me to apply much of the knowledge and skills I acquired at university especially those which focused on the marketing of charities and companies delivering services instead of products and the implications this can have on their marketing mix and product delivery.
