As an Executive Team Leader for the sales floor, I manage a portion of the sales floor which includes the domestics (bed, bath, kitchen, home storage, etc.) and half of our clothing departments. The Team Leaders and Team members in these areas use me as a reference for everyday operations such as sales and payroll, and long term efforts such as team member development and performance management. Multiple times per week I act as the Leader on Duty (LOD), and I am responsible for all sales and activities in the building during this time. Some LOD responsibilities include vendor relations, Handling Guest inquiries, and managing team member projects happening around the store.I have led multiple projects in my position. This November I led a team in successfully launching our new home brand, Hearth and Hand; which is a partnership with the Magnolia brand. In this role as Hearth and Hand Captain, I coordinated with multiple departments in the store, as well as outside vendors to ensure the successful and timely launch for our new brand.

During the first part of my internship I got an overview of the different work centers in a Target store. I spent a few shifts in each work center to understand the roles and responsibilities each center carried out. During the second part of the internship I shadowed my mentor closely to learn what he does as the executive Team Leader for the sales floor. In the final part of the internship my mentor let me take the lead and show how I could run the sales floor. One of my projects during the Internship was making sure we got extra summer sporting goods equipment, specifically water sports items, which we were quickly running out of. To maintain ample inventory levels I researched which items we were short on. I then researched the sales for those items from the previous year to understand if the sales trend would continue. Next I partnered with our distribution center to request extra quantities of product based of the predictive sales we would have. Throughout the summer I learned different management techniques used to motivate the team. I spent time working with the flow team to understand efficient ways to get product off the truck and on the sales floor. I was also fortunate enough to be working during the time when Target was rolling out its RFID program to stores. I learned how RFID was being used to track inventory levels in stores more accurately than previous methods.

As a demand planning Analyst intern, I focused most of my attention towards predicting the future sales for the grocery chains we work with during the times they run ads. when predicting future sales there are several variables I have learned to consider in order to get the most accurate numbers. I work with a team of thirteen people, who are all working together to keep our service level up. through this experience I have learned a lot about business systems, furthered my capabilities in excel, gained valuable experience working with a team to get a job done, and learned to work with tight deadlines.

I developed the idea to start my own shaved ice stand over the summer. I had full financial responsibility, managing the budget on permits, supplies, and employees. I focused on customer experience and developed a process to decrease wait time, and putting on a show for young customers to see the whole process.

I worked in the lab cleaning lenses before they were put in the chamber to be coated. My job also included the filing of sales reports and sitting in on financial meetings.
