The LUSU President is the Chief Executive of the student union, serving as the voice of students to Lakehead University, the community, and government. The President is responsible for the general oversight and strategic direction of the corporation. They lead LUSU’s campaigns and advocacy work, are in charge of coordinating LUSU’s communications strategy, and serve as the union’s primary liaison with media.

Planned, developed and implemented education campaigns and events related to multiculturalism and international development. Built leadership, financial and personnel management, volunteer recruitment and advocacy expertise. Worked directly with Lakehead University administration. Collaborated with organizations in the community such as Thunder Bay Multicultural Association, Northern Policy Institute and Diversity Thunder Bay.

Assisted with the sponsorship and permanent resettlement of two refugee students to Thunder Bay. Coordinated a large-scale event featuring TED talk speaker, hip-hop artist, and activist Emmanuel Jal. Chaired local committee planning meetings and maintained regular contact with all local committee members, sponsoring groups, faculty members, and LUSU staff. Ensured completion of annual reports, continuity through leadership, and provided opportunities for new leaders to develop and be mentored.

A non-governmental organization which organizes workshops for building communication skills for the public.
