My employment at SMILE started as a practicum placement last September. During PT sessions, my role as an assistant was to provide ultimate safety for the child during exercises while also being creative on the spot to help entertain/distract the child when needed. During OT sessions I organized the required activities and supplies, provided support during sessions to the therapist, provided safety for the child, and also had a lot of fun! I completed 160 hours during the placement, which then lead to being offered a casual position as I worked towards completing my degree and playing a university sport.(SMILE Therapy for Kids is now called Canadian Centre for Development)

I worked alongside a Recreational Therapist/Coordinator at Newbrook Lodge (senior home). Organized and lead activities such as bingo, arm chair travel, quilting, wii games, curling, crafts, movies, wheel of fortune, etc. Exercise class if offered three times a week which Iinstructed.
