Dr. Markku Maula is Professor of Venture Capital and Head of the Institute of Strategy and Venturing at the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management at Aalto University School of Science. He was appointed as a professor in 2004 and tenured in 2009. Prof. Maula leads research activities on venture capital and private equity and corporate venturing at the Institute. Has received a D.Sc. (Tech.) from Helsinki University of Technology, a M.Sc. (Econ.) in Finance from Helsinki School of Economics, and a M.Sc. (Tech.) from Helsinki University of Technology. He has received several international awards for outstanding research including the Heizer Award for the best doctoral dissertation in the field of new enterprise development by Entrepreneurship Division of the Academy of Management.
