Numina automates the process of measuring multi-modal traffic. It is an enabling technology for Tactical Urbanism and responsive cities. It is a standalone sensor system and API that uses computer vision to measure activity in streets. We deliver not just counts but movements and behavioral analytics for bicyclists, pedestrians, different classes of vehicle, and other objects in streets. Numina data empowers city planners to design safer and more efficient streets while also enabling industrial automation. Numina has been supported by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Health 2.0, SOSV, MINI / BMW, and 500 Startups. As technical co-founder, I designed the Numina system, including the sensor hardware and firmware, backend data collection, analytics, and API infrastructure, and the sensor management systems. I also worked closely with our leadership team and investors to develop the product vision and business plan, organized our first manufacturing runs, and supervised deployment of our system across four major cities. We have two patents pending and I remain a director on the board for this corporation.
