Principal Engineer and lead of the SIL4 Cloud projectDesign of a pioneering safety concept and system architecture to support SIL4 systems on COTS hardware. Hands-on implementation of the concept, involving Technology research and component selection (hypervisor technology, virtual network solution, OpenStack architecture, . . . )Deployment and optimization of a PoC setup with focus on real-time, robustness and high availability and automated testing. Hardware configuration: servers (firmware, host OS), switches, routers,firewalls. Implementation of geo-redundancy concepts in collaboration with an international team and foreign business units. Migration of pre-existing SIL4 applications from special purpose embedded hardware to the COTS cluster. Safety-technical analysis: Mathematical modeling and calculation of failure and hazard rates.
