I love data. Whether forging usable information from big registry microdata or scraping data from the web for a personal project, I thoroughly enjoy working with data to provide meaningful and valuable answers to research questions. In my PhD research, these questions pertain to careers. I have studied the spatial mobility patterns of fresh higher education graduates, whether vocational education leads to smoother labour market entry, and the stability of career trajectories followed by workers escaping unemployment. To this end, I have used sequence analysis, mixed linear models and fixed effects regression. In addition, I believe it is important to address spatial questions spatially, so I am also comfortable working with GIS methods.In my private life I am a huge music fan. I have built a price analysis tool for Discogs that helps me decide whether to buy or sell records, and I have used YouTube's related videos feature to discover new music. Along the way, I broadened and deepened my understanding of the R language and the many packages that are available in its ecosystem.I am currently in the middle of finishing my dissertation at the University of Groningen and would love to also work with data thereafter. My dream job would have "Social Data Scientist" as its title. I love to learn from, exchange ideas with and work with others, so do not hesitate to contact me.
