At Fiction Advocate we believe reading is practice for living; it enables us to understand ourselves, each other, and the narratives that surround us.With an emphasis on fiction, creative non-fiction, and literary criticism, our mission is to champion new voices and new techniques, to place literature in surprising new contexts, and to demonstrate the value of a fierce debate.

As a leader in the corporate communications team, I advised two CEOs and played a key role on internal and external strategy for reputation management, digital/social outreach, corporate responsibility, leadership positioning, crisis, major events and more. I also led a team responsible for editing, designing, publishing and promoting the firm’s primary internal communications channel, a daily news site with more than 2.7 million annual views.

Served as a leader on the communications team for Administrator Lisa P. Jackson, shaping overall strategy and managing a staff responsible for speeches, talking points, opinion pieces, video scripts, blogs, presentations and more. I also spearheaded the Administrator’s social media strategy.

Led strategic email-based fundraising, organizing, service and logistics campaigns. Drafted, built and sent HTML emails through Blue State Digital CRM. Drafted emails for President Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, and other key figures.

Led email outreach to targeted constituent groups, and drafted emails for campaign leadership and surrogates, including Barack Obama, Joe Biden, and David Plouffe. Assisted in all areas of email outreach, including fundraising, state campaigns and rapid response.

Drafted and edited speeches, talking points, press materials and editorial-opinion pieces. Developed and implemented long-term communications strategy to support administration agenda.

Worked closely with Communications Director, Press Secretary and other senior staff to execute message strategy for statewide gubernatorial campaign.
