Managed technology projects in support of police operations.Oversaw the planning, implementation, and tracking of technology solutions in support of law enforcement officers and their operations. Worked directly with senior management, vendors and technicians. Created detailed work plans and schedules, monitored project expenses, managed project staff, and developed scope documents, status reports, and training and communication plans. Ensured projects were completed on time, within budget and at the required level of quality.

- Researched, wrote and helped manage grants. Played a role in winning more than $51,000,000 awarded to the CMPD since 2008. - Produced annual reports, wrote and revised departmental rules, evaluated policies and procedures, created a booklet for families of homicide victims, and numerous other projects. - Entrusted by CMPD leadership to guide highly sensitive, complicated and high-profile projects, such as an Animal Care & Control evaluation, a contract process for officer uniforms, a museum exhibit, and preliminary scoring of grant applications.

- One of three CMPD employees dedicated fulltime for more than a year before the 2012 Democratic National Convention. Helped develop overall security plan for the National Special Security Event. Now working to close out related event and grant paperwork.- Managed administrative process for bringing more than 2,500 law enforcement officers from approximately 126 agencies to assist with event security. Served as primary contact for most agencies while working with CMPD leadership to arrange for assignments, housing, training, feeding, transportation and intergovernmental agreements with outside agencies.- Managed two-day check-in, equipment distribution and briefing process for all non-CMPD DNC law enforcement at beginning of event period. Playing significant role in outside agency reimbursement process.

- Spent approximately 8 years reporting on crime, public safety issues and departmental policy at police, fire, and EMS agencies in Mecklenburg and surrounding counties. - Established a reputation with leadership in those agencies and the newsroom as someone who could be trusted to be fair and accurate. - Covered the deaths of police officers and firemen, cheating allegations at the police academy, the creation of a Cold Case Homicide Squad and numerous high-profile crimes.- Made appearances on local and national television and radio to discuss high-profile stories. Regularly asked to address college classes.
