In fulfilment of my Masters in Public Health degree, I conducted a year-long research project in collaboration with the First 1000 Days Australia (Indigenous Health Equity Unit at the University of Melbourne) and Aboriginal Housing Victoria. The aim of the project was to evaluate the user experience of participants in a training program which upskilled and employed tenants of social housing to become Peer Researchers and conduct a household survey within their community. The findings of this study went on to inform and refine the implementation of ongoing and future iterations of the program. In the lead up to project commencement, I engaged proactively in relationship building activities with key stakeholder organisations and program participants. I prepared and submitted standard project application in human research ethics to the Melbourne School of Population and Global Health Human Ethics Advisory Group and Human Ethics Sub-Committees. I independently organised and facilitated individual in-depth semi-structured interviews and a focus group with program participants and staff to collect qualitative data, which I then performed data analysis on and compiled a written report on my findings.
