This project works toward the adoption of smoke-free multi-unit housing policies that protect San Diego residents from drifting secondhand smoke in their homes, while also referring residents to services to help them quit smoking. We also partner with healthcare institutions to promote the adoption and implementation of smoke-free campus policies and cessation referral systems. And lastly, we provide the opportunity for youth to capacity build and offer training to the youth in areas such as: meeting facilitation, public speaking for policy change, and other topics.

In my role as the graduate assistant to the Director of Student employment I was tasked with provided guidance to potential student employees. I was responsible for the processing of required student employment documentation. I also provided payroll training to students utilizing university computer software Workday. As a community worker for this organization I was tasked with being the team lead whose target demographic were members of the Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander communities of San Diego. Much of the work I did involved community outreach and engagement. I was tasked with data collection, data analysis, and educational materials development. This project focused on the prevalence of Breast Cancer and knowledge of Breast Cancer within these communities. Community members were asked to participate in one-on-one interviews where we began to collect data regarding community perceptions.
