In 2015, I drove the formation and led deployment of the first Rising Tide (RT) pooled fund as a Founding Managing Member of the GP. I brought together some of the preeminent tech leaders of the past thirty years and other strategic partners and family offices, as Limited Partners. We launched our second pooled fund 18 months later; it was double the size and I brought in our first institutional investors (pooled) there.I managed seed investing at RT, focusing on expanding and leveraging the Silicon Valley ecosystem across accelerators, universities, corporate partners, angel investors, technical experts, and venture capital funds to: source and identify the most innovative startups; invest in the most competitive deals; help entrepreneurs identify strategic paths to market; and accelerate their growth through business development and strategic partnership, particularly internationally. I started my VC apprenticeship while leading this organization as Executive Director. I assessed thousands of companies in close cooperation with the veteran Partners and team at Newbury Ventures and Rising Tide Fund. I began to build my network and trusted relationships with family offices, corporates, and the (then nascent) entrepreneurship ecosystem in the Middle East. I grew my network within the Silicon Valley ecosystem by playing a leadership role within the largest network of Arab American high technology executives, and worked with countless startups, eventually building custom acceleration programs for the best MENA startups with the help of the MIT Enterprise Forum, sponsored by Google for Entrepreneurs, and the Skoll Foundation. I was the first employee and grew team and budget 3x.I was inspired to start my career in this realm after the events in Egypt in 2011 - to maximize my impact and focus on economic development and not ideology and politics.
