I specialise in advanced analysis, design and problem solving. I thrive in multi-diciplinary environments and have a track record of employing effective collaboration and resource sharing to improve existing methods. I have had a special focus on structural dynamics and control for example, modal, mechanical and experimental testing, nonlinear seismic time history analysis with soil structure interaction, fatigue, impact and to a lesser extent blast and vortex shedding. I’m experienced in structural design, analysis and construction. This includes a focus of offshore, subsea and specialist structures. I am proficient in conventional approaches to design and analysis including operational, non-op. and accidental analyses. I’m knowledgeable in multiple national and international codes. Other experiences include topsides layout design and weight engineering.I’ve contributed to over 50 international projects at all stages from concept to detailed design, construction and integrity management. Experiences include numerous jacket types, topsides (drill rigs, bridges, flare...FPSOs) & other systems e.g. compliant towers, drill strings; BOP / LMRP, fixed and floating wind and tidal turbines, LNG terminals. I’m interested in structural dynamics, control and soil-structure interaction. This is focused on offshore systems including jackets and wind turbines. My forte is earthquake engineering. I have been involved in all aspects for offshore and onshore projects in low and high seismicity regions. This includes support for piping, safety and other disciplines. I’m always looking to enhance knowledge - including my own, our procedures and to improve reliability. I’m typically involved in advanced aspects of design including hazard and site response analysis review. As a researcher I have extensive experience in development of real-time distributed control technologies. I’m experienced in large scale testing having also conducted experiments at shaking table and geotechnical centrifuge facilities. I’m experienced in materials testing, heat treatment and fabrication. The latter including product design, procurement and fabrication. I’ve conducted extensive development of energy dissipation devices. I’m well versed in experiment design including actuation, sensor technology, modal testing, vibrometry, thermal and high speed imaging, algorithm and software development, user experience and signal processing. Other experiences include structural and seismic design of building structures (steel, concrete, specialist).
