+ Involved in the planning and implementation of the Continuous Delivery process for automating internal application deployments involving Amazon Web Services (AWS), Cloudbees/Jenkins, and Artifactory.+ Expanded the Python and Puppet scripts driving the continuous delivery deployments of our cloud applications to AWS helping manage the code in BitBucket.+ Rewrote the DART reporting process using multithreaded Python scripting (replacing Bash scripts).+ Migrated and patched older Django code (0.97) running a frame grabbing web service to function on in a Python 2.7 environment (from an older Python 2.3.4 environment).+ Installed and maintained Siteminder authentication Web Agents for application security. Administered configurations on the policy servers for cloud-based applications associated with the Web Agents.+ Installed and configured client packages for systems monitoring with New Relic.+ Conducted application deployments manually for Java application running in JBoss and Tomcat environments.+ Set up and managed an OpenVPN EC2 instance for remote access to the cloud accounts.+ Set up and tested out Cloudbees OPE instances for our continuous delivery process.+ Configured Apache for load balancing of internal servers using mod_jk and proxy_balancer modules.+ Configured AWS resources for a cloud-focused implementation of our internal applications specializing in the following: - Created and configured EC2 instances for services as one-off instances and Elastic Load Balanced/Auto Scaled packages - Created and configured RDS instances for applications - Configured Route53 DNS records fronting our cloud services and applications - Maintained a set of mobile application backend servers using Jenkins and Elastic Beanstalk - Managed user access using IAM accounts and groups including writing policies for detailed access - Wrote and modified CloudFormation templates to manage the continuous delivery process and to automate other projects

* Analyzed and built the process which reads the XML export from Scripps print publishingsystems and parses them into each site’s instance of Django/Ellington. Coded theseprocesses in Python running on Red Hat Linux system via cron jobs. Drafted and maintainedthe documentation for these processes as a reference.* Developed a method for photographers at our newspapers to remotely load photos asgalleries into their site’s Ellington instance by sending the zipped collection by way ofFTP access. Python process would expand the uploaded file, build the gallery object, andload the photos attaching them to the gallery.* Contributed to the ongoing customization and expansion of Ellington for our sites bywriting template tags, extending data models, writing views, customizing templates,creating new apps in Django/Ellington with Python.* Coordinated the implementation of data flow from Saxotech’s Mediaware system as it wasrolled out to all of our newspapers into a unified print publishing system. Found ways toextract more data from the publishing system into the online systems.* Wrote triggers and stored procedures in Oracle PL/SQL to manage data for our newspapersites. Added data structures to expand application functionality for a previous customcontent management system also using Oracle PL/SQL.* Interacted with our customers to discuss features, provide instruction, and workthrough issues.* Managed the incident cases for our systems by distributing tasks and resolving issuesas necessary.* Maintained the schedule of and took part in the 24/7 support phone rotation.* Programmed a parser in Python to pull WordPress blog content from RSS feeds to convertthem into Ellington stories.* Constructed a module in Python to stitch together map images into a grid as part of aproject for a local consulting company.* Expanded and maintained an existing classified ad system built in Perl.

I started with the information technology group and moved into specifically a programmer/analyst position writing and maintaining the software to manage the company.* Worked heavily with Oracle PL/SQL writing triggers and stored procedures to managedatabases. Maintained business applications using Oracle Forms and Reports.* Built a contact application around a database of names for physician recruiters totrack their calls using legacy Microsoft Access and SQL Server technologies. Moved thisapplication into Lotus Notes along with the assisting in the migration of the existingdata.* Performed network administration for both a Novell and Microsoft during my early daysat Team Health.
