My stepfather became seriously ill in June 2016, and I took on the role of temporarily managing our family business, Scott Tree Service, while he was hospitalized. Sadly, he passed away about five weeks after I arrived.In the wake of this loss, I continued to oversee the company's operations, as my mother, who had handled the financial side of the business, was grieving and unable to manage the day-to-day management and sales. This role required me to navigate between long-standing personal relationships with customers and the delicate interdependence of our operations with skilled employees facing significant legal, emotional, and often substance use challenges.I ensured our team met project deadlines, managed client expectations, and maintained the overall productivity and profitability of the business.
