Responsible for all things Tech at MYMY catering from December 2019 to December 2023. Even through the Covid pandemic, I built and maintained a fully functioning, international, multilingual e-commerce website where customers would place orders for catering they wanted delivered to the address of their event. Every bell and whistle imaginable was included: from finding caterers within a given radius of the customer's delivery address to daily, internal data reporting for sales and marketing to a private, dynamic style guide to keep the brand's design focused. While my Tech team grew and shrunk over my 4-year tenure (due to Covid greatly affecting the catering industry), I can confidently say at least 95% of the website was coded by myself (while leveraging excellent tools like Craft CMS, VueJs, Docker, and a proper modern Tech stack).

Front-end and back-end developer (Craft CMS + HTML5, responsive CSS, jQuery), sole designer, and marketing assistant of crowd-o-moto's website.crowd-o-moto is an Austrian online start-up connecting car dealers with users interested in buying a new car. Users can configure their own car and join groups with similarly interested users to attract deals from the dealers. My role was to design, build, maintain, and update the web platform on a day-to-day basis, both implementing new features while catering to the needs of the marketing and sales team.

My initial main role in the company was to implement ExpressionEngine CMS’s into client sites, starting with setting up their database and installing the CMS, writing the template code to add functionality to the HTML handed to me, testing and fixing bugs logged in our ticketing system, and finally launching the website upon completion of its QA phase. Eventually, my duties included being an auxiliary front-end coder for client sites, which entailed slicing up Photoshop files to code responsively with HTML & CSS (using SASS to compile the CSS), writing all necessary jQuery code to accommodate the front-end functionality detailed in the design, and bug fixing. Because my job crossed through both the front-end and back-end development phases, I also headed up the QA phase at the completion of each development checkpoint, which required me managing our QA specialist as she tested every page of the site in every possible circumstance, answering her questions regarding potential bug fixes, and then fixing all bugs logged by her in our ticketing system.By 2013, Venveo began to make its transition from using ExpressionEngine CMS’s for their clients to using Craft CMS’s, thus I have had the good fortune of gaining two solid years of experience using Craft’s excellent, new content management system in parallel to my former experience with ExpressionEngine.

Originally hired as an entry-level designer for both print and web projects, I became the company’s Creative Director by August, 2009. My duties included meeting with the client to learn about their needs and aesthetic interests for their project while also acting as a consultant and communicator to help the client formulate what they were truly after. As the head of the design department, I would create the homepage and style guide for the site, setting the tone, theme, and overall feel for the site before handing it off to our junior designers to continue fleshing out the other pages, where I would then oversee their work and maintain the quality of the design.Other duties included overseeing that the front-end code being written by our coders was lean, clean, standards-compliant, and accurately portrayed in the designs that were signed off on by the client.

The Thornhill Group is the moniker of my freelancing company that I began in the mid 2000’s to accommodate print design I was often being commissioned to do, but I didn’t fully commit to the self-operated company on a full-time basis until 2007. Through the early stages of it, I cut my teeth on working with clients, designing for the web, and coding in HTML and CSS. Eventually, my work and experience helped me gain my first agency position (J H Media Group) where I would then go on to fully hone my skills into what is now my professional craft. I still use The Thornhill Group for freelance projects that I acquire today, should the scope of the project and my schedule permit.
