Development of Powertrain FeaturesThe project is to develop some powertrain features of an automobile. The requirements are shared with the offsite team and further development in Matlab is carried out by the team. Exposed to the functional safety standard of ISO 26262. Responsibilities:• Requirement analysis.• Writing detailed software requirement.• Development of Matlab models.• Testing of implemented logic on bench.• Software FMEA.• Development of technical specification for customer as per ISO 26262 guidelines.

Battery Management SystemsThe main objective of a BMS system is to predict the amount of charge (SoC) and the condition of the battery (SoH) that is being used in a hybrid automobile. The SoC and SoH algorithm are developed in Matlab Simulinl/Stateflow and autocode using RTW E-coder. A battery was subjected to a simulated drive cycles in static environment and the charecteristics are analyzed to understand the battery dynamics. The developed algorithm is run on a microcontroller and the response is compared in real time as a proof of concept.Responsibilities• Setting up of testing environmet with battery and load for charecterization.• Excel VB scripts for analysis of data from log files.• Setting up of evaluation board to verify the software.• Autocode of algorithm with RTW E-coder.• Integration and proof of concept on XC167 microcontroller.• Technical review of work products.

Engine Management System for Small EnginesThe main objective of an Engine management system is to control the operation of the engine (Spark and Fuel) under all operating conditions of the engine. The team is located in 4 centres ; US, China, Singapore and Brazil. 16 bit microcontroller of XC164 from Infineon is used along with Tasking compiler.Responsibilities:• Scheduling and tracking the activities.• Software integration and release using CM synergy.• Coordinating software development activities between other centres involved.• Training and mentoring to team members on domain and process.

Small Engine EMSThe scope of the work involved understanding the requirements from the system engineer on a particular algorithm and implementing the same in a Matlab environment. The models were tested using a tool called Reactis. The models were later used to generate code using Target Link (TL) and integrated with rest of the application software. The product was verified on the controller on the bench before delivering to the customer. Was responsible for the development and implementation of idle air control algorithm. The control logic was driving a stepper motor. Was also involved in developing some tools specific to the project. Worked closely with system engineers on site in the development of algorithms and software support. Developed a frame work to test each unit in host environment against the model that was developed from the requirement. Test vectors were generated manually or using Reactis. Worked in Delphi technical center in Shanghai for around 7 months and 2 month in Flint,US.

Solid Oxide Fuel CellThe objective of the program was to develop a strategy and calibration for the control of the SOFC system for a specific application while meeting appropriate safety requirements. The Executable specifications are developed in the form of Models in Matlab /Simulink /Stateflow models. Once the control algorithms designed / developed for SOFC are validated, then the second phase of the project would be started to generate Autocode from the Executable Specs developed. Fuel cell employs a chemical reaction process to produce electricity with water as by product. Using this technology we can power the electrical/electronic requirements of an automobile.

Power Sliding Door (PSD)The objective of the project was to model the application to control the operation of a power sliding door in Matlab. This would help the System Engineer to visualise the operation of the door. The requirement was in the form of a word document. The entire application was a state based system and was implemented in Stateflow as State Machines. In addition to the application a plant model to complete the loop and a GUI was added to depict the operation of the door movement. The application was autocoded using TargetLink.

TelematicsThe scope of the work was to implement the operation of Telematics system in a car. Such a system will be interacting with the driver of the car and a support centre for answering phone calls, voice activated commands and to help on the course of the drive and avoid accidents. The requirement was in the form of a word document. The application of the entire system was modeled in Matlab as a state machine. In the later stage of the project code was generated using TargetLink.

Executable Specifications EMS (Engine Management Systems)The objective of this project is to simulate ideas up-front so that we can reduce effort in coding stage. It involved Engine Management System and Transmission Control System. Worked for ELCL and SQDN modules.Embedded C code of the Models treated as specs.
