About Marcus Odom
After obtaining my BS and MS in Accounting, I entered the Army and was in the 267 Air Defense Artillery. After two years I branch transferred to the 1st Finance. After making Captain, I left the Army to obtain my PhD in Accounting at Oklahoma State University. My first job as a professor was at the University of Southwestern Louisiana in Lafayette, LA. In May of 1998, I accepted a job as an Assistant Professor at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL. In 2002, I was appointed as the Deloitte & Touche Faculty Fellow. In 2004, I became the Director of the School of Accountancy and was promoted to Full Professor in 2009. In August 2014, I stepped down as Director and rejoined the faculty full time. I also serve as the MAcc Director. In 2008, I created the SIU - School of Accountancy LinkedIn group for all alumni and friends of the School to join.Specialties: Accounting Information Systems, Internal Auditing, Fraud Examination

CurrentAfter 10+ years as Director of the School of Accountancy, I have decided to step down and be a full-time faculty member. I look forward to being in the classroom more and to having more time to focus on teaching. I will continue to administer the SIU - School of Accountancy LinkedIn group that I encourage all alumni and friends of the School to join.
