About Moeena Das

Moeena Das is a Nonprofit COO + COS + Program Director. Colleagues describe them as "It is uncommon to report to a manager as committed to the coaching and mentoring of their direct reports as Moeena, but I had the good fortune to do so during my first year at Rare. During the time we worked together, I supported Moeena in the management of our team’s operations, which ran the gamut from budget management, to ensuring accurate fundraising projections for the executive team, to maintaining consistent internal reporting processes. All the while, Moeena was dedicated to cultivating my hard and soft professional skills and coaching me through honing my professional goals. While we worked together, I was continually impressed by Moeena’s talent for thriving in ambiguous situations. While most people would normally shy away from such scenarios, Moeena’s ability to work with comfort and success on projects with vague parameters made her a trusted thought partner for Rare’s Leadership Team. The Leadership Team consistently relied upon her ability to harness her innate creativity and problem-solving skills to tackle some of the greatest challenges Rare has faced. The most recent example of this would be Moeena’s spearheading of Rare’s five-year strategy refresh initiative with grace and aplomb. Additionally, Moeena’s ability to quickly shift her focus back and forth between the macro-level overview and the micro-level details of a project made her one of the most dynamic managers at Rare. Her aptitude for viewing a project from both perspectives, rather than from one exclusively, enabled Moeena to quickly draw connections and identify solutions between the levels that might otherwise go unnoticed. As a result, Moeena had the capacity to simultaneously drive high-level strategy and manage the details of a project with an efficiency and organization paralleled by few. I saw Moeena utilize this talent every day at Rare through her management of our multi-million dollar fundraising pipeline and budget. Not only was she responsible to making sure both were on track at a high-level, but she was also consistently aware of individual gifts and costs that would impact our revenue and expenses respectively. Moeena harnessed this information throughout the year to keep our team on track and meeting our targets by making adjustments to our goals. Working with Moeena was always a positive experience, and I am not alone in this sentiment. It is a testament to how personable and supportive Moeena is of others that, over half a year after her departure, people still hope she will return to Rare. These are just several of many skills Moeena has in her arsenal of expertise that make her an asset to any team."
