• Assess User Requirement Specifications for various rolling stock products (locomotives, wagons, and coaches)• Interpret design requirements for customers internal and external to the company,• Conceptualize solutions for engineering problems in rolling stock, plant and fabrication equipment (lifting equipment, jigs and fixtures)• Execute design calculations in respect of engineering steel connections (permanent and temporary)• Provide technical and documentation support to engineering project teams in prototyping and production phases of product development,• Prepare 3-D models and 2-D drawings for Structural Analysis and Fabrication Teams• Assist the welding compliance team with the welding design function,• Support structural analysis teams in compiling product engineering reports and welding compliance teams in compiling welding data packs,• Lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams in design optimization projects.

• Update machinery SOPs and ensure compliance,• Attend to machinery breakdowns and assist in the formulation of root cause analysis and preventative measures to be actioned,• Verify the use and position of machinery in the workshops and update the data on the SAP system accordingly,• Assist with capacity planning and spares management,• Bear witness to the testing of pressurized equipment in the plant by independent AIA employees and file issued certificates accordingly,• Resolve plant-engineering challenges using mechanical engineering concepts, e.g., calculations of safe working pressures for airlines in the plant,• Manage projects that improve machine availability and reduce machine downtime,• Draft specifications for use by the procurement office in tendering processes,• Update PM task lists according to machine performance and alterations,• Device energy saving strategies on fuel (petrol, diesel and gas), water and electricity.

• Assist train drivers in the safe running of trains,• Bring trains through crossings,• Provide shunting services in train yards and customer sidings,• Liaise with customers upon consignment delivery,• Provide relief duties to fellow train crew members
