▪Master thesis title: "Developing a concept to integrate Wireless Sensor Networks into Intra-Vehicle Networks". ▪AbstractModern industrial needs, like Automotive industry call for the use of Wireless SensorNetworks based on IEEE 802.15.4 side to side with Intra-Vehicle Networks. Therefore,a coupler that can integrate Wireless Sensor Networks based on IEEE 802.15.4 intoIntra-Vehicle Networks is demanded, which led to the topic of this thesis to design aconcept for this kind of coupler.Bluetooth Low Energy and IEEE 802.11p are presented as two candidates for theIntra-Vehicle Networks. Therefore, the first task of this thesis was to compare thosetwo technologies to know which of them is a better choice to be used as an Intra-VehicleNetwork, which resulted in choosing Bluetooth Low Energy for that role.Software and Hardware implementations were done in order to design a solution forthe required coupler. The solution is able to receive data from different sensors nodesthrough the IEEE 802.15.4 Wireless Sensor Network, and couple these data to theBluetooth Low Energy network. Clients in the Bluetooth Low Energy network canreceive these data in a categorized way; the value, the type of sensor node sending thisdata and its address. The solution was tested and proven to successfully achieve thetarget of this thesis.

Task:Measurements and testing on Wireless sensor Networks (TinyOS/802.15.4) inside vehiclesDescription: Doing measurements and tests on a network of wireless sensor nodes based on IEEE 802.15.4. The topology involved 5-7 wireless sensor nodes and a base station. The tests and measurements have been inducted indoors (inside a room), outdoors (in an open area) and inside a vehicle. Lots of scenarios have been inducted and results have been compared to assure the quality of the network.
