I am PhD Graduate from the Mechanical Engineering department at Carnegie Mellon University. My work as a PhD student focused on studying the Mechanical Properties of thin films. My work can basically be divided into two parts: 1. the design of a reliable, high through-put MEMS test platform, 2. the use of the test platform for material characterization by studying materials’ properties and size effect in strength for different materials, namely poly crystalline silicon and aluminum. The design and optimization of the test platform was carried on using ANSYS finite element simulation, and the final design was created in AutoCAD before manufacture. The material characterization includes strength test, scanning electron microscopy and electron backscatter diffraction investigations.During my academic journey, I have been exposed to many areas of study including solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, finite element method and wind energy.
