Mohammad Alhawamdeh is a PhD researcher specialised in numerical simulation and optimisation of composites. Alhawamdeh holds Ph.D. (2022) and M.Sc. (2016) in structural engineering. He is a skilled designer using computer-aided software and programming languages, such as Abaqus, Python and MATLAB. Alhawamdeh is a motivated researcher interacting with analytical, experimental, and numerical approaches. His fields of research are composites analysis and design, numerical optimisation of composites, finite element modelling, steel structures, and concrete design. Alhawamdeh started his research career as a research assistant working on the rehabilitation of reinforced concrete members with fibre-reinforced polymers at the University of Jordan after securing a fully-funded scholarship for his M.Sc. in 2014. Starting in 2016, Alhawamdeh worked for three years as a full-time lecturer at Tafila Technical University in Jordan teaching undergraduate students and supervising their research projects. In 2019, he secured a fully-funded PhD scholarship from the University of Southern Queensland through a Cooperative Research Centres Projects (CRC-P) grant, which puts together the efforts of the Australian government, the Centre for Future Materials, and Wagners Composite Fibre Technologies to develop advanced composite pultrusion for civil infrastructure applications. His PhD work has enabled the rapid commercialisation of the research by the partner industry Wagners Holding Co, an Australian building material company. Wagners successfully implemented 8 new product lines based on the modelling and designs from Dr Alhawamdeh’s PhD work. The new product range has helped Wagners expand its market share by 30% in North America and the Middle East.
