The research is mainly based on the I-69 Thumb region in the state of Michigan. I personally worked on projects that involved data collection and analysis on the following topics; Major Employers, Ecotourism, Alternative Energy Sources, Demographic Assessment, and mapping various facilities in the region.The role the EDA center plays is crucial, as we develop comparisons and links between data surrounding community and economic factors. I personally worked on projects that involved data collection and analysis on the following topics; Major Employers, Ecotourism, Alternative Energy Sources, Demographic Assessment, and mapping various facilities in the region.The role the EDA center plays is crucial, as we develop comparisons and links between data surrounding community and economic factors. This information is provided to the government and other private contractors. The position required us to collect, compile and organize data using Microsoft Office and develop analyses for each data set as well as generate links between data sets and understand potential existing trends in the market and the economy. The analyzed data would then be presented twice a month to the department and on occasion to the contractors. Show less

I have facilitated, educated, and helped develop first year students' intercommunication and leadership skills through the material presented in the course, Intergroup Dialogue. I was able to engage first year students in dialogue surrounding race, gender, religion to help them better understand the complexities of international, interfaith and intergroup communication and expression. I was able to engage first year students in dialogue surrounding race, gender, religion to help them better understand the complexities of international, interfaith and intergroup communication and expression. The class instructed by Dr. Thomas Wrobel focuses on highlighting key issues of social identity to first year students to ensure a better and smoother transition into college. It's a 2.75-hour class with a lecture in the first hour and then the class would break split in half and continue under the supervision of two peer facilitators.While peer facilitating my responsibilities were facilitating and supporting the classroom alongside the professor. The First Year Experience:Intergroup Dialogue class is mainly dependent on student interaction with the peer facilitator. The PF would aid in initiating sensitive and controversial discussions surrounding the topics of race, gender, sexuality, as well as religion and their influences on socialization. Supporting the students through their expression of thoughts and having open discussions steered by the PF were essential components of the position as well as the class itself. I was also required to validate journal grades based off a rubric provided to the students and the PF.As a biracial Muslim man, I had also presented subjects such as Islamophobia, Racism and "Race as a Social Construct" as the lecture part of the class. I took on the front desk position to better occupy my time in the Springsemesters.While working in the department I learned a lot about customer service,organizational team work, data entry and organization, as well as qualitative skills that helped me approach issues with a more responsible attitude.The job required us to lead trainings such as weather evacuations, active shooter drill, fire drills as well as cases of minors visiting the residence hall without a guardian.
