Research scientist, blue economy manager, and technical expert with a BSc in Chemistry from Yarmouk University, Jordan, and MSc and PhD in Marine Environmental Protection and Marine Biogeochemistry from the University of Bangor, UK. My career spans industrial technical academia, and management. I've led and participated in national, regional, and international projects:• The Red Sea Program• Development of Coastal Ecosystems Resource Management Techniques• Environmental Assimilative Capacity of Coastal Habitats• Societal Security and Environmental Impact of Marine Aquaculture• Coastal and Marine Biosafety through the GloBallast Partnerships Project • Strategies for Reducing Persistent Organic Pollutants on the Coasts of the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden• Wastewater Recycling and Renewable Water Resources in Coastal Cities• Strategic Ecosystem-based Management of the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden• Mediterranean Forum for Applied Ecosystem-based ManagementI have designed and executed vocational training and university teaching courses in environmental sciences, including "Biogeochemistry of Enclosed Seas," "Human Health and Coastal Environments," "Economic Valuation of Coastal and Marine Resources," and Ecotourism. I supervised Jordanian and international postgraduate students and contributed to establishment of Aqaba Marine Park and Jordan’s Coastal Environments National Monitoring Program.I worked as research scientist at the Marine Science Station, Aqaba, during 1996 to 2007, with a tenure as Director from 2000 to 2004. From 2007 to 2017, I served as Director of Projects Management, Scientific Research, and Monitoring at the Regional Organization for Conservation of the Environment of the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden (PERSGA), where I built strong connections with international organizations such as IMO, World Bank, UNEP, UNIDO, and UNDP.Between 2018 and 2022, I led several Environmental and Socioeconomic Impact Assessments, notably for the Aqaba-Amman Water Desalination and Conveyance project. Since 2021, I joined UNDP Jordan as Project Coordinator for the EU-supported Mediterranean Forum for Applied Ecosystem-Based Management Project. I have recently developed several national and regional project documents for UNDP Jordan and Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA), focusing on blue economy initiatives like the GFCR Gulf of Aqaba Coral Reefs Resilience Program, the EU-supported Aqaba Science Park Scientific Research and Development Program, and the Canadian-funded project on Coastal Ecosystem Biodiversity and Resilience in the Gulf of Aqaba.
