Dr. Dehghani served as the Associate Director in charge of engineering, design, analysis, and fabrication division of the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). APL is a 5000 person advanced technology, system engineering organization with the mission of providing critical contribution to critical national challenges. In parallel, Dr. Dehghani served as professor of Mechanical Engineering and established and served as the Founding Director of the Johns Hopkins University System Institute (JHUSI). Prior to his this position, Dr. Dehghani served as Devision Director of the Technology Division of Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). LLNL is the premier DOE national laboratory responsible for some of the most advanced technology developments in the the DOE complex of Laboratories. While at LLNL, Dr. Dehghani taught advanced engineering design courses at University of California.

Responsible for research enterprise of the university. Established the office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Established the Stevens Venture Center (SVC) including its incubator system.

Dr. Dehghani served as the Technology Division Leader of the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). The Technology Division was home to several core competency areas of LLNL including Nanotechnology, BioMechanics and Bio-Engineering, Structural Mechanics, Thermal and Fluid systems, Computational Modeling and Simulation, and Complex Systems Engineering.While at LLNL, Dr. Dehghani taught engineering design courses at the University of California.
